Steve Kniffen started working at the Sea Chest when he was 19 years old. Steve had just graduated from Coast Union, looking for a fun, yet challenging, work environment. And that's exactly what he found. He has been behind that oyster bar for nearly 40 years, creating a memorable experience for customers and an enjoyable place that many of his employees call home.
The Sea Chest was established in 1975 by Jim & Karen Clarke. The duo had no idea they were creating an institution that people from far and wide would come to visit year after year. In January of 2022, they passed the ownership reigns, but it is our goal that the Sea Chest will continue to flourish in the same exact manner as always, with our customers never knowing the difference.
With generations of experience, our staff knows everything seafood. We are prepared to make your experience one you wont forget. Dedicated to serving the most delicious seafood, our staff has upheld this promise since day one.
